flymd is a cross-platform, WYSIWYG Markdown editor and PDF reader that weighs only 7 MB and launches in milliseconds, positioning itself in the Office & Text Editors category. The application opens local or WebDAV-hosted folders as libraries, presenting them in an expandable tree for quick document creation, renaming, and deletion, while automatically remembering the exact cursor or scroll position of every file. As users type, Markdown, LaTeX math, Mermaid diagrams, and raw HTML are rendered in real time; double-clicking any block reverts it to source for instant adjustment. Images pasted from the clipboard are uploaded on the fly to user-configured S3- or R2-compatible object storage, and the corresponding markdown link is inserted without further keystrokes. For distribution, documents can be exported to PDF, DOCX, or WPS formats. Security is maintained through local-only processing and automatic sanitization of previewed HTML. An extension marketplace already hosts community plugins—including an AI assistant for proofreading, summarizing, and polishing text—and the open API invites additional custom add-ons.
